Can I get another clown?

I have a tru perc right now that i've had for MAYBE 3 weeks and I was hoping to get another clown. The LFS by me had the cutest maroon that is the same size has my tru perc (both being rather young and very small) and they also had an ocellaris that would be about the same size. would it be possible to put these two together in a 24 gal nano? It'd be a temporary situation as we're looking to get a bigger tank before Christmas but I know maroons can be very temperamental and I don't want it picking on my tru perc. any suggestions or experiences??

im to to this too...but if im wrong please correct me...i believe they are 2 different species of clowns but under the same genus...which means that they are both territorial but if you had a bigger tank they would be fine...i things work out tho

OUt of all of the breeds of clown fish the maroon is one I would def not recomend to mix with any other. They are very aggressive and in a small tank even if its temporary things can get ugly.
Typically you can mix ocellaris with ocellaris and perc's with perc's without major incident. I had a B&W ocellaris and an orange ocellaris AKA False perc. They got along just fine together. There are a few on this site that mixed true and false percs together and claim that every thing is good. IMO mixing breeds is a gamble no matter what. But I would stay away from maroons with any mixing. Good luck and let us know how things work out with what ever you decide.

Same question. I have a smaller true perc and larger saddleback that get along fine. I was looking at adding a smaller maroon or alardi as well (wife loves clowns), but this isn't the first time I've heard of maroon's have bad temperament.
I'm assuming I'd go based on coloring and size, but can anyone recommend a good clown that would go with the first two?

it really isnt recommended to keep two different type of species of clowns. Just get another as the same species that you have now.
Also maroon clowns can grow to get fairly large.
