hello all
i currently have a 55 galloin setup and running for a year now, my parents wanna put tiles on the floor were my tank is, meaning i have to take everything, so i decided to upgrade, ill b upgrading to a 120 gallon tank, the thing i need u opinion on is LR. i went online and saw a person near me is selling his LR. over 150 lbs of LR for 400 dollars. now thats not a bad deal considering its about 2.70 a lb. my lfs sells LR for 4 dollars a lb. i do his deal but im afraid it might b to heavy for the tank, cause it will b his 150 lbs, plus my current 25 lbs, do u think the glass will break?also i might not use all of the LR, do u think my lfs will buy the LR from me?
thanks in advanced

They say to use 1-1.5lbs per gallon, with 175 lbs of LR you should be fine. That is only 1.45 lbs per gallon. His deal of $2.66 per lb is about as good as a deal as you are going to find.

You'll be fine weight wise with all the LR besides more is better. I have 150lb in my 135gal. and plan to add more. One word of caution QT your new LR B4 adding with fish I had new LR bring in ick and been fighting it for over a year. But thats another story. Sound like a nice upgrade you'll love the size difference from the 55 plus more room for more fish.

now wen i get this guys LR, its goin to go in a whole new setup, meaning i basically want it to cycle, i might wash off all the pieces, is this a good idea?
and i wont wash them with soap

It's probably a good idead to at least swish them around in a bucket of newly prepared salt water, then rinse them in another bucket of newly prepared salt water. Are you going to see the rock in his tank before you buy it? Look for unwanted stuff, Aiptasia, cyano, hair algae etc. before buying it.

o yea definitly, i asked if i can get a pic of at least wat size the rocks r, he lives close to me so ill b able to c it in person
he jus has to hold on to them for like 3 more weeks, cause we gotta get the tiles in, i gotta set the tank up and stuff,
should i add sand b4 rock, or rock b4 sand, i forgot how i did it wit my 55

usually rock first then sand to fill in around and under where it can get. If you sit it on the sand you take the chance of having a rock slide if one of your sand sifting snails or other critters get under it.

I saw the same ad on Craigslist. Better hurry before I grab it! LOL. Only kidding. That's more than I need. What LFS are you using. $4 a # is much better than my LFS?
