can i go from fresh water to saltwater and use the same filters, pumps and stuff?
or do i have to buy all new stuff

The answer would depend on what pumps we are talking about, some pumps require a salt water shaft. Most you should be ok with, I think that the only one that needs a salt shaft is a Quantum. You should be ok otherwise. And you'll want to change all the filters you were using for fresh water.
