Can I start my tank tonight?

I have my dry rock and Live sand. Can I start my tank tonight with the sand and rock I have and then add the 50 pounds of live I'm getting later in the week?

I think I would run the powerheads, I'm thinking that if you let it settle when you turn on the powerheads again it will just kick it up again. Don't worry it will settle in a couple days worst case.

did u put ur rock on the bottom of the tank then add sand? if not make sure the rocks pushed down as far as it will go. otherwise in the long run the rocks will settle and cause a rock slide and possibly kill fish, break glass and all that bad stuff so while youre not far along make sure that is done. also i would run the powerheads and the skimmer while the rock cures the skimmer will pull all the excess out

This is pretty much what I did. I put in a thin layer of sand. Pushed the rock down until I felt glass then added the rest of the sand.
I almost have the water level up to where I can start the powerheads so I will be turning them on soon. So run the skimmer too???

I think I will actually get the skimmer going tomorrow after work. I gotta get to bed and I don't have time to keep an eye on it at all tonight. The tank is pretty much full and the powerheads are going now though. It's already started to clear up hopefully by the time the lights go on tomorrow it will be clear.
