Hi,
I am trying to buy a AquaC Remora Protein skimmer...i know its a HOT skimmer, but I want to know if I can use it in-sump? The private seller I am trying to purchase from insists that it can be used in the sump (with only the addition of a longer pipe from skimmer to powerhead). Is this right? Please help. :help:

I have mine mounted on my sump just like you would if it was on the tank. Depending on the depth of your sump and how much additional hose it adds you may need to step up to a larger pump. With the leveling screws that are on the botton it will not set in the sump without modification. So yes it is possible.

i am just wondering about pros/cons of hanging the remora on the fuge versus using it in-sump in my fuge/sump setup...
any thoughts...
 :notsure:

I don't know if you're getting the prefilter box or not but that was the biggest thing I lost when I put it in the sump. It just wouldn't fit. The only other downside is that you'll have a device hanging off the side of your sump. I did end up going to an in-sump skimmer just for the greater water volume it could hold once I had the money together. The only reason I bought a hang-on skimmer originally was because I didn't have a sump to get a skimmer for. If you have a sump now I would try to go with an in-sump skimmer.

dmurphy,
thanks for the input..the thing is, this is my first sw experience..my prev. experiences have been all with fw. So i am starting off slowly with a 40g, and a 20L fuge/sump i built... to tell you the truth, putting almost any decent size skimmer in a 20L fuge/sump will compromise the fuge area which I want to be a nice decent size to allow for the plants/algae to do their job. i dont mind the skimmer hanging off the back of my fuge/sump..(wondering: why did you mention "The only other downside is that you'll have a device hanging off the side of your sump."--how can that be a downside? )
thanks again

The "downside" is asthetics. I just looks kind of ghetto. When I give "the tour" people always seem to want to see my full setup. I try to keep everything showable.
