sorry for the bad attitude just tired and have been having heck with my tank lately, nasty old hair algae and now this (hair algae is gone finally) ok, i got a bluespot goby and a foxface on friday last week, the lfs told me that they had had him for 2-3 weeks and he looked fine, (he was discolored like they do when they are scared) i couldn't see anything wrong with him, i got him home put him in my tank and the next day he had a small black dot on his side, so i started to watch him close, next day there were 1 or 2 more on the same side, now today he has a little black ring with white in the middle, like a blackhead with white in the middle, and i noticed a small white spot on his fin. my maroon clown looks like he has a small white spot also on his side now. thats all that happened should i watch it for a couple of days, i have a 30 gallon QT with a sohal tang, green chromis and a lw blenny, they are all in hypo, got them from swf.com a few weeks ago. But i also have a 10 gallon qt with a emperor 280 biowheel that i could put water from my main tank and use the biowheel from my emperor 400 from the main tank. I have the goby, a foxface, and a maroon clown, would they be ok in a 10g qt to go through hypo. I'm really not an a$$ all the time college is stressing me out with finals and everything. i was planning on trying to put them all in qt tommorrow if i can put them all in the 10g
SORRY EVERYONE
Thanks,
-kyle-

Well, let me advise you to stop getting muliple specimens and then adding all to tank, or QT. Unless you have multiple QTs/tanks buying bulk is mostly a bad idea [particularly for a new hobbyist]. As you can see, when the bulk purchased fish come up with different symptoms, you end up not knowing what to work on first or how to address the problems.
When you say "spot", do you mean a area like the size of a dim, or a spot like a grain of salt? More specfics on exactly what you are seeing...details. Are the black spots like the size of a grain of sand, only BLACK? Or is the skin eroding, etc. Give specifics about what you are seeing.
Or, post up some pics.

Could you see if you can take a close look at your fish WITH A MAGNIFYING GLASS. Not unusual for ich to be there and go unnoticed. Look particularly on the fins. Look at the area that you are seeing the spots with the glass. You should be able to tell if they are "raised" with the mag glass.
At this point, I would begin the hypo just for safe measure.
I have say....you already are on the right track with a QT setup and doing hypo on other fish.....thus, why did you get another fish when you still had fish in the QT??!

watch out with hypo, your fish can die, no one likes to tell you that, but seems if your new, then your fish die, i lost almost all my fish to hypo, and i did what it said to do, and lost them anyway, so i would really think it over first, maybe try a freshwater dip, 2 mins and there done, while hypo takes like 3 weeks.

well i have a sohal tang and a lw blenny already in hypo going on 2 weeks and doing awesome(knock on wood) could your fish have died for other reasons. thanks for the reply and i might have to try the freshwater dip before hypo.
Beth to tell you the truth i'm just kinda compulsive with my fish buying i just wanted another fish ya know (no patients never pays off). I could wait to get another and i read in the newspaper that the fish store is have buy 2 get 1 free, and i went and they told me that they had had them for like 2-3 weeks and were doing great and they also looked great in their tanks, so i got them, and i got about a 6 inch sebae anemone for free. Another reason is i live 200 miles from any saltwater store(that shouldnt be a reason i know). I would like to kick myself in the butt for this i swear it will never happen again, only one fish at a time for now on. I looked at him today and the spot was gone there are still tiny little spots (3-4) that do not looked raised, is that just the color of his skin pigments or what? will black spot spread fast tell me a little about it please.
