I was wondering if it would be ok to put some live rock outside in a bucket for a few days? I live in southern cali so the temp doesn't get to hot, the rock is cured. just thought i would get someone elses ideas on this
I've even seen sites that give proceedures for aquaculturing live rock in backyard pools. Just make sure the temperature is right, and it has some circulation. If too much algae starts forming, a tarp that blocks most of the sunlight will help.
Just be aware that even live rock sold as "cured" will need additional curing. If you are moving it around in buckets it will probably need even more curing. You can always let it cure in the display tank, but it will smell to some degree and might cause spikes in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate.
