Can Rics be placed on sand?

Can Ricordia mushrooms be placed on sand? I have a biocube with stock lighting. Will enough light reach the mushroom on the sand? Thanks.

they can be put on the sand, but they'll most likely drift around. i put mine on the sand and now there behind the rock work attached to the rocks.
