can someone recomend a good reef safe starfish

i want a starfish but i have read that brittle stars are about as unpredictable as crabs and peppermint shrimp. then there is the linkia type and they done transfer well. so what should i go with or just stay away from them all. i seen a yellow brittle and some kind of tan linkia today that looked so cool, are they really that bad? <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

What else is in your tank, what size etc??
and how long have you had it up and running??
Some stars are harder than others to handle and keep, some are major predators..
Do you have CC or LS??

my tank is a 29 gallon been up about 7 months. i have 4 inch dsb. thanks for the help

I have two brittle stars - one is about 10 inches across and the other is about 5. Neither have caused any problems with the tank or inhabitants, but that is most likely too big for a 29 gallon tank.

The other day at my LFS I saw a linka star fish which normally comes blue in a beautiful deep purple color. The little hands under were orange... Very wierd and expensive $40.00
Anyone ever see this?

How about a serpent star. I have had many of these and never had problems in my reef tanks. They are hardy and easy to keep, they are also very inexpensive.
They are very cool to watch move around the tank.

I have this small red starfish. It's hardy, stay small and reef safe. I bought it as "Bali Red Starfish" (Fromia elegans).

I've got a purple fromia(or it could be a Tamaria stria sp.) not exactly sure but mine has white/tan feet. I've had mine about six months in my reef with no problems. I keep plenty of softies and have never caught him on them at all. He really hasn't grown much eighter, sitll about 3-1/2" across. I may have received one that is different than the one golfish mentioned, don't know, but so far so good.
Its really on the move constantly, and really adds color to the tank.
