It looks like a form of macro algae to me
. Ever since I lost all my tangs I have all sorts of macro growing from my live rock green and red/maroon colored. It doesn't look like anything harmful to me. Hope someone else can help you more!

You say it could be a sargassaceae & can be hard to keep  Well I do know what Im doing
. I have had good luck with keeping water quality up. Its hard work as anyone reading this knows first hand, but good things usally are hard work. Its starting to get big & was wondering how to transplant it to my sump/fug I want to take it off my rock I dont cant move the rock its on. If I cut it off at the base will it die?

This Stuff Actually Has A Base Attached To The Live Rock, The Only Way To Move It Is To Try And Get The Base To Go With It, Or Superglue Gel It To A New Rock When You Brek It Off, I Cant Get This Stuff To Set Up In My Tank But My Buddy Ordered A Box Of Live Rock And About Half Of His Rocks Have It Growing On It, I Beleive It Is Sargassum
