I got a used tank for free, needed alot of cleaning, but as I remove the gunk from the inside I have a lot of fine scratches and swirl marks, I have put in a lot of work cleaning this thing up and now I'm not wanting to use it due to all the scratches. any advise?

There are kits that will remove those scratches from acrylic. You can look around online at many aquarium sites that sell them. My tank is glass so I dont remember which sites I have seen them at but I have many times

You can also get them at LFSs, atleast in my area. They run around 40 bucks for a good one, and you can also get companies to come out and do it.
They sell the kits based off of what type of scratch you have, i.e. hair-line, medium depth, severe scratching.
they work pretty well.

go to a car detailing or window fixing place and get the NOVUS scratch remover.... you can do all 3 steps depending on how deep the scrathes are, and if you have a buffer or an orbital sander you can put the cloth pads on them and put the liquid on the acrylic.... works great!

also, (just for extra information),
If you set the tank up and you scratch it accidentally, there are some kits that you can use inside of the tank that will polish everything very well. The acrylic dust will agitate some of the corals, but it won't kill/harm/distroy anything at all. :D

all great replies, thanks a bunch!! I can't wait to get started, I didn't want to put something in the tank that would harm the fish later.
