It finally got off the glass to a good area for a shot.
Can you tell me what it is? The IFS just had it down as "red Starfish". I've had it about 6 weeks I think

It is a Fromia, probably Fromia milleporella. If it has survived the first month, that is good. Probably will not have an issue with acclimaiton shock. But if it is not yet a month, watch for the tips of the arms starting to disintegrate or turn whitish.
In smaller tanks, it will likely starve in about a year to 18 months. A fairly delicate star overall. I recommend only one "reef safe" star in most systems, as they will compete for food. This can not be spot fed and really needs a good amount of live rock.

Well it's been at least 6 weeks. I thought one of the arms was getting smaller about two weeks ago but it hasn't change since. It's 170g tank I'm not sure the LBs of live rock as the tank was here when I moved in.
I hope it'll be ok. It spends a lot of time on the glass.

The glass is another surface for it, like the rock. There is bacterial and algal growth on it, and micro creatures that feed on that.
