candy cane

I picked up a few heads of candy cane coral a couple days ago. They are opened up and seem to be doing good. Is it required to spot feed this guy or is it just done to make them grow faster?

I don't know what GeoJ specifically meant, but after spot feeding mine, they get "puffier", and as with many LPS, puffiness is good!

If I don't spot feed my Candy Cane at least once a week, the heads shrivel and just look awful. I'm convinced it thinks it's a pink sun coral, LOL.
As with most LPS, it's not necessary to feed them, HOWEVER, they will usually have much meatier flesh on them and more vibrant colors if they are spot fed. My candy canes grab a lot of food when I feed my fish every day, but I also spot feed PE Mysis once a week.

Last night I noticed the tenticles were out on my biggest of the 3 heads. It ate a small mysis shrimp. I also feed my palys mysis.

Cool

Have you ever used coral frenzy for any of your corals?

most of my coral are frags and i have a good amount of space in between. if i would use something for the whole tank at once, as opposed to spot feeding, i would be concerned about wasted food.

I use coral frenzy from time to time. Rod's Food is great stuff. Reef Nutrition has a great line of products but they expire quickly and are quite pricy.
