I forgot about this new forum, so on the reef forum first, hopefully i will get some answers on one of the threads.I have 3 different trumpets in my tank. Neon greens, light greens and the ones in the pic. The other 2 are are growing and doing great, some of the polops are turning white, in the pic it looks like the flash is causing it to look bleached, but that is how it looks. The polops that are normal color are healthy and extend feeders at night. Tank is a 150 tall, with 2x250 MH & T55 lighting Its mid tank, with mid flow. Water perms are 0 ammonia, 0 trites, 20 trates. PH is 8.3, calc is 400. Water changes is 30 gal every other week, feed daily. All corals are thriving, including acros. Any ideas here????

Might sound basic but from the sounds of it...check your salt level. My friend went through the same thing and it turned out to be the salt level. Calibrate your refracto.

Could it just be too much light? I have frags of both in two tanks, one with pcs and one with halides and today I moved a frag from each tank into a 2.5 I just set up. The color difference is amazing, the halide ones are several shades lighter than the pcs. Now I'm curious how long it will take the others to change darker in the 2.5 with pcs.

Yeah, i am thinking to much light. I have 2 other candycanes in the tank, neon greens and mint greens, both are higher up then this one, and are thriving, guess they need more lighting then this type. I moved it down, but might still be to much. If it doesn't improve in afew weeks i will put it in my other tank under T5's not the combo lighting they are under now.

Puffer,
That candy cane is the one that's just like mine. I've recently (this week) had to move mine lower in the tank and in more light...different tanks, different set ups. Mine has been higher in the tank, but in lower light because of the shadow cast by the brace bar through my MH lighting. In the few days that it's been in its new location, I think the little guy is coming around. Mine wasn't doing horrible, but it also didn't look as nice as I was hoping it would by now. At this point, I'm seeing regenerating tissue in spots that I'd pretty much given up on.
Good luck with yours. They can be pretty hardy given some TLC (can't we all?
)
LOL, Lisa

LOL Lisa, you are so right! Well, I think the new location will be better. It was use to T5 lighting, and the switch to MH seems to much for it though i did acclaimate it to the stronger lighting, maybe it was still to fast. I am going to try the shader spot its in now for awhile, then if need be, just put it in the lower lighting tank, i think it will be ok, most of it is still opening and there is new growth on the underneath where its more shaded. Thanks!
