Hi everyone, new here.
I have all my experience in Freshwater and am just about to start up a saltwater tank.
Now I was using a Fluval 404 on my 55 Gal Fresh water system for years. I have had to replace a few parts on it, and now starting a new salt tank I need to again. There are again some parts I want to replace including the itnake and output tubes (Which I cant jusity throwing down cash for the originals so I was going to use clear tubing.)
That said, this is twice I have replaced some parts on the fluval, its getting a little older, probably close to 5-6 years old I would think. I want to replace the tubing as the old corrugated stuff that it comes with is shot. But doing so using clear tubing makes me worry the hose will pop up and Ill have 90 gallons of wateron my floor when I get home...
I am considering just replacing the unit altogether eith an Eheim or a Filstar.
The new aquarium is a 90 Gal, I am not using a sump, and was just going to use foam in the filter, nothing else. Would an Eheim 2215 be ok, or the 2236? I am trying to keep my cost down slightly.
The second question is Powerheads. Someone told me that you should have 10x your gallon in gph for power heads is this true? I was going to go with two Hydor 600 GPH powerheards. However someone I know runs a 150 Gallon, and they have 2 x 1200 GPH. So Im not entirely sure how heavy a powerhead I should go.
Thanks.
