Canon EOS Rebel XT Users?

What settings are you getting the best pics with? Actually you don't have to be a rebel user, I am just looking for the best settings. I need to read my manual

I'm looking into macro lenses. I would like to get one with a true 1:1 ratio. I may buy one locally (with a return policy) so I can check them out.
Now to think of an excuse to give the wife on why I need another lense :notsure:

On my Canon Rebel I mainly use the P program. You will need to play your camera to determine what iso setting you prefer. I find that if it is bright go with 100 or 200 and dark 800 or maybe 1600. If taking close ups in your fish tank try the picture with the flower on it. That seem's to work for me. The best thing to do is practice and see what you prefer.

I haven't purchased the rebel...yet...but I do use a G5 for now. I vary settings according to lighting conditions. With actinics and trying to get close ups or macro shots I normally shoot several pics in auto mode....then several more in aperture priority with different apertures.....then P mode and adjust exposures and apertures.......all with no flash.
With the MH's on I normally shoot in aperture mode...iso set at 100 no flash and macro mode on for close ups off for more distant shots...then I shoot with adjustments to the aperture. I use several settings and take lots of shots....then look thru them to find what I like (normally a very small percentage) and toss the rest.
But....I soon hope to have the rebel or maybe even the 20d.....and a couple of lenses for greater potential.

Yeah, I am looking at the Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM. So far, most everything I read on it is good. I also found a few sites that recommended the lense for aquarium photography.
