Canopy for my 55

Thinking about a DIY canopy for my 55. Is there anyone that has built one and wouldn't mind pointing me in the right direction. Also what do you wish you had done or didn't do when you built your canopy? Thanks in advance

you have mail. if this is what you want, mail me back and I will help you figure out the dimensions. it is really easy. my entire hood cost me $12.00 for the lumber and paint. I used the lumber that is for cabinets so there are no knot holes in mine. I had some hinges. total building time was under 30 minutes. :)

One thing I have noticed...If your going to add Metal Halides (even in the future) make your canopy front loading. This will help keep the top from bowing. I know of one person (who shall remain nameless) whose top loading canopy top bowed the first day. Also, several coats of polyurethane (sp??) will help make the top last longer.
If you do go with the front loading approach remember to make the opening larger enough to get pieces of rock through, otherwise you will be taking the hood off everytime you add something. (I got lucky there, thought of it the first time I added rock after I built mine)

Agreed,
Definatly make the top one solid piece. I just have one pendent in mine and it's bowing a bit. A good point, glad you made it.
