Canopy With Mh Light On Top Of The Tank

Hello everyone! I am a new member of this site and been reading this for almost a year now and I decided to joint the member. I have 58g Oceanic reef ready tank 36x20x18 running with T5 light (36” Current USA Sundial T5 HO 4x39W w/ Timers & LED). Now I like to upgrade my T5 to MH so I want to build my canopy for my tank so I can hang the light fixture inside the canopy. And I have a question for the experts here that canopy + light fixture that will sit on the rim of the tank is not too heavy for the tank? I am afraid that the tank will crack or broke with the weight of the canopy and the MH light fixture.
I will use 1”x2” for the rim and ½” for the wall and light will be:
IceCap 250 / 400 HQI All Aluminum Pendant
250 Watt 14000K Metal Halide Bulb - Phoenix, Double-Ended
IceCap 250 Watt Electronic Metal Halide/ HQI Ballast
Please advice and thanks for your time.

the weight wont crack the tank. many tanks have canopies over them. im sure you will be just fine. also phoenix 14K bulbs are GREAT, you wont be disappointed if you go with one of those.

You'll be fine - weight shouldn't be a problem. Make sure to allow for some cooling! Should be a fatastic setup!
