Can't ANYONE help?

I posted in the clown forum but haven't heard a thing.......
My clown is almost on his side....looks like ich....got a cleaner shrimp but he hasn't found my affected clown.
I have no QT tank. I can't treat with hypo or copper - have inverts...
Do I just watch him die? Take him out now and flush? I don't really want to do that in case there IS a chance, but he's looking progressively worse.
Can't ANYONE give me advice? I've been waiting all day....

well since you don't have a QT then I would put your other fish, inverts and LR in a rubber maid container with a heater and a powerhead, then hypo the DT.

Guess I should put my husband there too since he's irritated I'm more concerned with my fish than I am with him.....I am inheriting a 30 gal tank next week that I will turn into a QT.....I don't know if my clown will even make it through the hour.....

then if you have a 5g bucket put a nice amount of tank water in it with a heater and PH and put the clown in there, you will still need to do hypo to rid the tank of ich or leave it fishless for 4-6 weeks.

I know you meant well, but hypo in a bucket is a bad idea. Sorry.
Get a rubber maid tub, as Salt Life suggested. You can get a tub at the dollar store. Pull out some water from the DT, you will need to do that anyway. You will need an extra power head for the tub, that is your only expense. Move the rocks and inverts there. Hypo the display.

Hate to be the bad guy, but if he is already that sick with the Ich, there may be little hope for survival. I would go for a chance and make up a quick QT. There always is a good chance. Good luck!

I didn't say hypo the bucket... I mean't put the clown in the bucket with a heater and a PH until she can get the 30 to set up a QT, she will still need to hypo the DT anyway that's why I suggested doing the rubbermaid and moving all the rock/inverts/fish into it.

Thank you Salt Life.....unfortunately I don't have the spare equipment. I guess that's what I get for getting into the hobby, wanting advice and then not being able to follow it. So instead, I sit here in tears, beating myself up for not having a QT. When I inherit this tank next week I know for sure what I'm doing with it....but I don't have a PH or extra heater to put in a 5g bucket...I have him in a bowl on top of my light hood for any extra heat....but I don't expect him to make it though the night.

I know that you meant well. The problem is that the clown would be in the bucket for longer than a few hours. A very small amount of water with no filtration, and a weakened fish will not work out well.
This clown may not even make it, but ich is now in the system. You need to address that.

I am so sorry. It is tough to watch an animal die. Hopefully you will take this as a learning experience. Get the QT cycled, pull your fish out, hypo them, and QT all future purchases.

trying to help is what we are here for... Maybe you can change the water out of the container every 1-2 hours with new tank water and hopefully he will make it through the night, if you don't have extra equipment then i'm not sure on what to suggest, i'll keep thinking though. do you have anything to create circulation in 2 container? if you have it on your light hood maybe it will get enough heat, you just need circulation.

+1, you need to adress the DT now and when you get the new tank, cycle it, and maybe put your lr and inverts and your other fish in there, hypo the DT and then transfer back but make sure your levels are stable and your temp,salinity and ph are the same. I guess you will have to take a loss and learn from it, unfortunetly this stuff happens.

Yes, I've read all the threads of the life cycle of Ich and that I will need to treat the tank even after the affected fish is gone...My clown is in a large bowl right now with tank water - no PH or anything...I just don't have the extra equipment yet. I feel like the most absolute horrible fish-keeper right now....completely boo-hooing for not having all the right stuff yet. Please tell me I'm not the only one who cries over their fish....

nah your not, we all get attached to our fish, it sucks when something like this happens and we beat ourselves up about it but the only thing you can do is learn from it and get prepared. buying all the equipment just to have in case of something like this will save you a big head ache in the future.

Well, I hope my co-workers don't mind my puffy eyes tomorrow....I've boo-hooed enough to make them the size of small pillows! Yes, I have learned....this new 30g I am inheriting was going to become a brackish tank but I now know to make it my necessary QT. I should be getting all the equipment with it so that will be good. It just upsets me that as soon as I added a few things to my tank from a reputable place, one of my fish gets Ich...although I know that I have NO idea where it actually originated from.
Sigh....Poor little Troy....he was such a good mate with Emmitt....

So sorry to hear you lost him - I, too, have cried over sick/dying fish but, I hate to say it, you start to get more callous about it as time goes on - probably because we can't emotionally afford to get that attached to each and every living thing we put in our tanks.
I have to wonder if he really died from ick - it seems to have happened too fast. You said he was fine one day and right after adding new tankmates he went downhill, and FAST. I would think if the ick came in on your new purchases it would take longer to sicken and kill an existing fish, but I'm pretty much a newbie too so who knows.
