HI:
i'll start by saying this is a sign. cyanoalgae is an indicator of nutrient problems w/ your water. So first off check out your water parameters, do water changes and clean to get your water back to perfect.
W/ that said cyanoalgae is a misnomer its actually a bacteria (a blue green called cyanobacter), and therefore is suspectible to antibiotics. The red slime algae removers are erythomycin, and if you do use an antibiotic ensure you do water changes and the like after your done, becuz once you elimiante the slime algae, if you don't eliminate the problem it will right back.
Read up on it

im still in the middle of my initial cycle, so i was told not to do a water change. i think it's cynobacteria, that's what i was told. it's only on my live rock. and it's like these little fuzzy patches. some are brown some are green, some red. is this cynobacteria? it is growing like little hairs and traps like oxygen bubbles...this it?
and yes all i have done is scrape it.
my water parameters are pretty bad. but i was told to leave it because doing a water change would only slow down my cycle. my ph is like 8.1-8.2 ammonia 0. nitrite and nitrate are unreadable...too red for the color chart.

Hi:
yes you are cycling and yes this is cyano....Unfortunately right now not much you can do....allow the cycle to continue, and wait it out, and once all the nutrients are used up the cyano will die off.

imo you could increase your h2o flow and decrease lights --this should help some. Get some powerheads to help you out.
My tank is in my bedroom--right next to my bathroom--the ro/di unit is under the sink with a faucet on top so I can also use the h20 for household needs. hth

and where do you have it put the good water? do you have a tub sitting on your bathroom floor? and does the bad water go down the drain?

the ro/di unit I have has a small tank that collects the filtered h20. I then transfer that from the tank to a 20 gallon garbage can I have in the bathroom closet.
The plumbing under the sink takes care of the waste h20. The kit--I bought from Lowes--comes with everything you need. There is of course,an inlet tube and a tube that is hooked into the drain. The waste h20 tube is hooked to the drian via saddle valve. I hope this is helping you :)
