cant keep nano temps

My nano temps in my 5g are up and down nonstop. Is there a specific brand heater that is best?

I have a 12 gal nano cube DX
and as for the heating I just did some electricty work
ie: unplug the cooling fans
to do this I had to take apart some panelsto get at the wiring
the temp stays arround 78*
plus or minus 1 degree
(I don't have a heater in the tank)

I use the Hagen mini compact heater for my 2.5. You have to adjust to find the right temp but mine has worked great for a year now.
