Well, I don't know if he specifically said civilian trail, but (and I do not mean this in a sarcastic or biting way at all) if you listened to the left wing there was little doubt where that was going. imo it would be like believing that Obama wasn't going to raise taxes on everyone.

When it was looking like Obama vs Rudy I was looking at voting for the unity 08 ticket once they had it together. The media was calling Obama a centrist and I figured there wouldn't enough difference between the two so I might as well support a 3rd party (again) Then I decided to look at Obamas record

In 96 he favored an all out handgun ban on his Project Vote questionnaire
While in the State Legislature he voted against allowing gang bangers as young as 16 to be tried as an adult if they commit violent crimes
Obama was the lone vote against a bill that prohibited child molesters from receiving good time credit while in jail
He also voted present far more than is normal for a state legislator which raises a lot of questions
In the US Senate he voted against the bill that made it a crime for an unrelated adult to take a minor child across state lines to avoid parental involvement laws regarding abortions.
All that led me to understand exactly how far out of the mainstream this man's politics are
