JMO, but I have heard that these are not the best pets for somone to have. I guess they can become extremely violent as they get older and usually have to have their teeth removed so they cannot bite which is very painful for them. I would let some others chime in here. Does your brother have experience with them?

I have no hands on experience, but i know that monkeys take A WHOLE LOT of caring for, around as much as a baby does. They have to be constantly taken care of and need to be challenged in the way children do. They are like bringing another child into the house. That seems like WAY WAY too much responsibility for a 17 yr old. he still has dating, college, work, and graduating highschool to worry about.

I have had one of these and believe me, this is not an exotic animal that is easily kept as a pet. They can stay very wild. I have a nice scar on my thumb where this animal bit me (out of the blue). Their fangs make Dracula seem mild. My father had to have a surgical procedure on his hand after this monkey bit him.
They are not fun, or tame.

boy, everything I have heard about these creatures through the years is exactly what Beth said. I know some of the "stars" had to have them for awhile because they were cute and a novetly. They seemed to disappear pretty quickly.
