Hiya,
I've had the tank up and running for about 45 days now. Should I remove the carbon filter and bio wheel from my eclipse?
If so, can I save these for future use, especially the carbon filter? If so, how do I store it?

Hiya,
Pete, I think I read that the carbon will take out the minerals from my water and that the bio wheel becomes a nitrate factory. I am having nice algea growth, which I'm afraid may be due to the bio wheel. I'd like to keep the minerals in the water to help my corals grow.
Am I correct folks?

I don't see how a bio-wheel could be a nitrate factory. It's not like food can get stuck in it. If you want, you can clean it using tank water. That's if it has a buildup of anything. As far as your carbon, you can change it out as often as every week. It doesn't serve much of a purpose after about a week anyway, it has adsorbed all it can and will adsorbe no more.
As far as it taking out beneficial elements... I think it's wiser to run carbon than to not. I believe it is more beneficial than detrimental.
