carbon filtration in salt water?

I read that carbon filtration is useless in salt water because the carbon filtration properties don't last long in a salt water environment.
Is this true? Why?
If so, how often do you recommend changing the carbon for a crystal clear water?
Thanks

i use some carbon sacks every once in awhile if someone's coming over. it'll crystal clear your water pretty quick. i leave it in until the tank goes back to it's normal look. usually 2-3days, depending on tank and filter size.

I have 2 Fluval 405 on my 90 gal with each 2 sacs of carbon.
My water is crystal clear.
How often should I replace the carbon with new sacs?
I thought that activated carbon was the chemical filtration part of the game.... someone says it removes organics from salt water!
Pls help!
