carbon lifespan

i was just wondering what the effective "lifespan" of carbon is. I am using the sheets that look like filter floss. Are there any negative side effects of not changing it frequently?? thanks, Greg

Depends on the system. I change mine every other week. Granular is better than pad from what I've heard.

Agreed that granular would be much better than a pad that has simply been inpregnated with some carbon dust.

Yep they are called filter cartridges, used for HOB filters, like whisper or penquin filters.
