carbon or not

should I be using carbon all the time..10 gal w/ a whisper.carbon in whisper fish only..30 gal.w/a fuval 103, and 403..carbon in there w/ fish anenome and mushrooms.. and a 125w/ ugf,wet/dry and fuval 404..fish only all w/carbon..does this cause phosphates ?

While some folks will not agree, I use GOOD QUALITY carbon all the time in all my tanks. If you e-mail me I will tell you the brand.
You don't have to worry about phosphates if you use good quality carbon and change it frequently.

If you use carbon the key is to keep it meticulously clean. That means rinsing, cleaning or changing it once a week, depending on the factors of your particular tank.
While carbon is a two sided sword, the bad side is when it is left too long without the above maintanence, and all too often this is the case with the "lazy" hobbyist. And, YES, carbon can contribute to adverse water contitions if not maintained, even the best of the best.
So, bottom line, if you use it be prepared for extra maintainence chores.
