i got a new canister filter the other day and it came with carbon.. is that gonna be bad to run all the time or can i replace something else with it or just take it out and run it without it?

Runing carbon will not hurt anything. It helps to clear up the yellow in the water as well as the fishy smell. It'll also absorb the chemicals put out by stressed/agressive corals.
Remember to replace carbon after 4-5 days. Carbon will break down and release what were absorbed back into the water.

4-5 days? You mean weeks? I have carbon run in my tank for about amonth then i change it. ( It comes packaged with my emporer filter pads
)

Nah... 4-5 days... If past this date, the carbon is ineffective and only serve as surface area for bateria.

lol you know whats funny here.. i got carbon and copper mixed up.. but this is still helpfull ayways!
