Well you're probably looking at a brown banded bamboo shark that gets pretty big. How big of tank do you have? The main problem with sharks in a reef is that the sharks knock over corals and rocks. Plus you won't be able to put too many small fish that are usually the reef safe fish in with a shark becuase they may get eaten.

you will run in to problems with a cat shark in a reef. first off, they need a large tank as it is, but then with all the waste they produce, in a reef, you may need even larger and more ifltration. also they need a lot of open space with a lot of sand. so if it is a reef, either it isnt a full blown reef or it is HUGE. lol they can also be known to knock stuff over and coudl eat some of yoru smaller fish and inverts.
greg, when he still frequented this place had an AMAZING shark reef. it can be done, but there are more precautions and set up procedures that must be done to properly accomidate them.

I wouldn't recommend ANY shark in a reef unless you have some insanely large tank. (like the guy on one forum that hit the lottery and is building his 14,000 sq.foot house AROUND his tank -->which was the first thing to be built, the thing has its own separate systems separate from the house)

The only way to have a shark in a reef, IMO, is to make your own rock and put a ledge supported by pilliars where the corals can peacefully rest on top, and the shark would have room to swim.

The only shark that can fit in their for most of its life is a marbled catshark. The tank is 6'x2' right?

I don't recomend keeping a shark in that size of tank. Why not use that as a reef and wait for a bigger tank for a shark?
