Caulerpa Assortment

I am starting a new ecosystem. The directions said to place five strands of Caulerpa to seed it.
The questions: Should I seed it with more than one type of Caulerpa, or only one type?
Also, does the size of the caulerpa matter? I put a few relatively large pieces in there. Is it better to start off with small pieces?

I have zero experience with the ecosystem but I do keep an assortment of caluperas and other macros in my refugium....I'd add several types and definitely more than a strand or 2...some macro algaes will do well and others just don't...depends on the system I guess.
Maybe somebody with hands on experience with a ecosystem can clarify why they suggest "a few strands" to start .
