Ok just a pet peeve of mine.
Caulerpa DOES NOT go asexual. It can go sexual. When it does so it releases gametes. The problem with this is that when it does this it kills itself.

When dying it releases secondary metabolites. One such metabolite is caulerpin which is very toxic. It also releases assimilated nutrients. This accordance can course your tank to crash. Caulerpa goes SEXUAL as a means of continuing the life line of the algae. Not enough elimination, food or growth space is the major cause
