Causes of cloudy water

Just what i need, another problem. I woke up and my tank is cloudy. I check my ammonia and nitrates but nothing is out of wack. Nothing died. Im also going to change my filters and do a water change tomarrow. But this got me wondering, What are some differant causes of cloudy water?

UMMM...a stirred sand bed that has not been disurbed for a while
ammonia spike
an anemone that decides to spawn
macro algae going sexual

That is all I know

Algae bloom
Lax filter media maintenance
Critter spawn

IME cloudy water clears up in a few days by killing the lights and not adding food to the tank.
