CB shrimp

Do they clean the parasites off fish , will they set up a cleaning station like the cleaner shrimp?

Some species of CBS will clean parasites off of fish. My sure wont he will attack a fish if it gets to close to him.

I'v never heard of a cb cleaning parasites off fish. But I'v heard some crazy stuff so I'm not doubting it could happen. I have a friend who has a cb and hers is huge!!! He will take food right from here hand. Hates me though. He will bow up at the glass when I come in. CBS are a type of cleaner shrimp. whether yours will clean or not is entirely up the the temperment of the CBS. I have had two in the past. One cleaned the other did not. Neither ever attacked a fish or another shrimp. These guys look menacing and therefore get a bad rap.

We had one CBS. It ate the peppermint shrimp and was not happy one of the fish came near him. so he didn't clean the fish.

Yeah, mine make a meal out of my peppermint. And will attack any fish that comes near him.

Just once is several years did I see my CBS cleaning my Valentini puffer, however it refused to have anything to do with my poor ichy tang who kept going up to him, begging for a cleaning. I ran out and got a fire shrimp who was more than happy to take care of the job. My CSB occasionally gets a little cranky and territorial, but has never hurt or killed anyone in my tank, other shrimp included. Perhaps he doesn't know that they are there, hanging out in the live rock.

my cbs just chills out. he is huge, one of the largest i have ever seen. he doesnt clean any of my fish, just waves his antenna (sp) at my kole tang. very peaceful, never raises a ruckus.

Mine does not go out chasing other inhabitants for a meal, he is busy scavenging for food all day but he does not want to be bothered. So if someone approaches, he raises his pincers in defense.

My CB shrimp is a bit cranky most of the time. He stays busy scavenging for food but does not want anything near him at all. I could never imagine him cleaning a fish. He doesn't kill anything...is just cranky!

Our cleaner shrimp iz a bad ass. He and my Sally jab at the other fish who approach them.

i've never heard of a cb eating the parasites off of fish. i've had one in my tank ever since i started this hobby and he's never done that. i had to buy a cleaner shrimp for that. but he's the greatest. he'll eat out of my hand and always knows when i come in the room.
