CC and LS Mix?

I have a 37g reef with about 2 inches of crushed coral and 25lb or lr. I would like to add some live sand to enhance the overall quality of the system, but I am unsure how much I should add and whether I need to take out the crushed coral first.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you could just add the sand (10-15 lbs should do it) to the CC with no problems ... also you could use at least 10 more lbs of LR

I recommend removing the CC and installing a plenum system with 4" of aragonite Seaflor(very efficient Nitrate reduction) or 5-6" of LS(deep sand bed) with sand maintenance critters.
I use a plenum because its inexpensive and maintenance-free.
