Just completed the switch to L/s from C/C in my 125 F/O tank. Looks great! It took a whole day and I used southdown from home depot . The greatest thing is I did not lose any fish and they all look rather happy and eating well. It's been one week. In addition my nitrates are down to nothing! Out of my 4 s/w tanks, two have l/s and low nitrates. Two have c/c and high nitrates. I will be switching on the remaining two in the nest couple of months. They are both 55 g's and thus s/b easier. A personal thanks to all who made great posts on how to do this successfully, especially JWT.
Another favor, I read some posts in the past but not recently that there is a way to boost the growing of live sand thru some sort of additive sold in stores. By the way , I did use the c/c in stocking methoed but would like to give it more of a boost. Please post where I can purchase"L/S booster" and what is called. I also know that the same stuff is used to periodically add to L/S to keep it replenished especially if you have certain fish like a mandarin. While I don't have one and woukldn't get one, still would like to boost my L/S.
