I have a bit of a compettition in the tank right now between who is going to be king of the castle. Right now it's between a velvet neon damsel and a henoichus butterfly.
The butterfly appears to be holding his own. Who is going to win this one? They are not at the nipping at stage, only the brushing up against backwards stage. How long should this go on? The HB was added to my tank yesterday.
Anyone have any experience with this?

the velvelt damsel is about as territorial as they come. expecially if he's been alone for a while. i would suggest moving the rocks around some so they have to find new living spaces. i personally would just rid of the damsel all together.

I second getting rid of him.
I had a 3 inch long velvet that I had since he was about an inch long, and he didn't get aggressive until about a month ago. I liked him a lot, but had to get rid of him. They're pretty, but definitely not peaceful!

I hate my 2 velvets. For a "reef safe" fish, they sure enjoy biting the stalks off my xenias.
