Are Ceramic Rings a no-no for a reef set-up? The Nano Cube 24 DX comes with them and Bio-balls.Use both?Use neither?Use just the bio-balls?Any Reef veterans comments greatly appreciated. Thanks.

im no reef veteran but have become very familiar with the nano. i believe the stabdard set up will work just fine. IMO i think you should take out the rings and the bio balls and put in live rock rubble. keep the sponge filters in. i just think natural filtration does wonders for a smaller reef system.

basicly the live rock rubble and the ceramic rings are the same thing, the advantages of using live rock rubble, is that the bacteria is already built up on it and it probably speeds up the cycle pretty effectivly. It would be like taking and putting base rock in there instead of LR rubble, eventualy it will do the same thing, but initialy it will be alot better.
atleast thats what im assuming would happen, if you think about it, it makes perfect sence.
