Chaeto in the wild

Just thought about it. Chaeto is some interesting algae. Where does it grow in the ocean? Are there any pictures of chaeto in the wild?

Oh my friend how you challenge my vast knowledge of so little but in this case I can tell you it can be found in the wild grown on the Hawaiian reef

I figure it's obviously found in the wild but what's to stop it from getting washed to shore and being all over the place there's nothing holding it down, no roots?

There are three species found in Hawaii the one we see most is the c. antennia in free floating tufts the other two are rooted
