Chaeto ?

i have bought Chaeto on hear twice and after about a month it all seems to be gone each time
everyone else says it grows like crazy so what am i missing?
i have a 110 gal display tank
it has 22 red leg hermit crabs
and a mix of 9 damsels "2 golden tail 2 -4 strip , 1 Blue Damsel ,1 Green Chromis ,and 3 that look just like the Green Chromis but yellow
and a sand star and a few sails
i have 150-200 pounds of live sand and about 75 pounds live rock
the slump is 35 gal with only 2 section i have the water feed in the large chamber with the Chaeto and 2 pounds of live rock and about 2 pounds live sand the other chamber i have the return pump.
with a 18 inch 50/50 light on 24/7 placed over the larger chamber
i say it run with about 20 gal of water.
just trying to fig out why my chaeto doesn't strive.

With Chaeto you don't need to run the light all night long, thats why its my favorite micro algea, but its probably your light. Is your 50/50 a 10k? If so, its too into the hot, you want to move to red spectrum, 6k.

Yeah the actinic is not for algea, and I am not sure what natural sunlight means. I am sure you have the temp somwhere in the bulb, if you could get to it. With macro algea you want to go around 6000.

Yes reduce to night time only. I did run a 50 watt (6k I think)over mine 24 at first over a large fuge.......When I put a timer on it and cut it back to run 8 hours at night only not only did it get greener it also helped with keeping the PH stable over night. Now I take bags full to my LFS ever couple of weeks just to get rid of it.
Stronge flow also is a plus!

OMG, please tell me that you did not pay this much for the bulb. 21 inch 55 watt should be around 33 max. Yeah, get the regular 6k, get rid of the actinic and you will be fine.

no i didnt pay that much just did a google for the light so you would know what one i was talking about
