well so far i have only been able to get 1 skunk shrimp in my tank.. i've killed 3 more trying.. craziest thing.. first one i followed a friends advice and did no accimilating.. just dumped the bag through a net and tossed him into the tank.. he's the only one to live believe it or not.. the other 3 i've tried accimilating as told by lfs and several other places.. let em float 30 min then add a ounce of water every few minutes for a hour to hour and a half.. one managed to last almost a day.. the other 2 just a few hours.. i'm contemplating going back to the same store i got the first and just dumpin him through a net and tossing him in tank like the one that lived.. i figure i just got lucky on that one though..
also i bought 10 scarlet crabs and 20 bluelegs.. so far the skunk shrimp i have that's living has pulled 2 from their shells and eaten them.. it's a bad day in my tank :(

sure didn't.. water went into a bucket.. water parm..
temp = 78 , salinity 1.024, PH 8.3, Alk is norm, calcium = 440, ammonia, trites = 0, trates = 5ppm.. most tests done with red sea test kit, calcium done with natureef.
also in about a month or 2 i'm going to set up a sump, move the tank to a different room, and remove crushed coral and put in play sand with 40# of LS from lfs.. also will be adding a skimmer and wet dry filter at that time.. right now i have a magnum 350 and a whisper 30-60 and 2 powerheads.. anything i'm missing here?
TIA!!

I'm pretty familiar with shrimp. hehe, never had a problem acclimating them, just keeping them alive ( especially cleaner shrimps ). I have had a CBS from the start of my tank ( pretty big now molted about a zillion times already ) and originally 3 red fire shrimp that seemed to chase each other quite a bit. After a few months one fireshrimp died after a molt ( theory here is he was caught sleeping, after he molted earlier that day ). I added 2 cleaner skunk shrimp since then. After a month or so I noticed only 1 skunk cleaner and eventually saw "parts" of the other - which I thought was molted skin. This past week, a realization occurred. I went through the normal morning feeding and then went to work. I noticed my CBS in a new home of sorts, funny thing was he was pretty close to the live skunk cleaner shirmp ( whom was alive, moving, and eating ). When I came home from work, I saw the CBS munching on a very dead Skunk shrimp...coincidence? I think not! GUILTY CBS! Now I gotta figure out how to get em outta there without taking the thing apart. I certainly dont want him going after my fire shrimp , and would rather have cskunk cleaner shrimp in the mix to service my fishies.

Just wait until you see your $3 crab eating your $20 true percula. I have gone a lot lighter on the crabs now.

Today he got my large Red Fire Shrimp!!! Aaaaarrrgh! I need to get him outta there - can't seem to catch him though, and taking my tank apart isnt a good option. I'm down to one fireshrimp left, hopefully, he can dodge the CBS before I get em outta there!

I had good luck getting a pesky shrimp out by, feeding it in a fish net for about a week, then one day I just scooped him out.
