I have a hang on Penguin Filter w/Bio Wheel. I was wondering when you should change the filter inside of it. If I change it will it bring my Nitrites down. They are currently at .1 (is this dangerous)? <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

1st off your nitrites should be 0. You probably need to do a water change. I'm not real familiar w/penguins but I am assuming it has a prefilter of some sort and then the water runs through the bio-wheel? You dont change the bio-wheel it has your good bacteria. The prefilter needs to be changed or cleaqned on a fairly regular basis.

If you are referring to the cartridges--replace at every water change or at least once a month.
Unless you notice reduced flow which indicates they are clogging up.
Yes that is dangerous--just how dangerous depends on what fish you ask. :D
good Luck

Ok tank has been up for almost 2 months. Does have pre-filter. I think a water change and a new cartridge will do the trick. Thanks :D

You will also notice the wheel slowing down as your cartridge becomes clogged!! That is when I chane mine! Or at least once a month.
