changing lights on new tank?

I have read a lot about lighting; my tank has been set up for about a month now. Fish are doing ok; the live rock has new green growth on it. How soon do I need to get the light changed, I am still using the stock light strip I got when I purchased the tank, its a 48 inch light with 2 24 inch t10 20 watt bulbs. Also when I do changed the bulbs do both bulbs in the same strip need to be the same. Or can you mix and match. I have been told by the local pet store to buy another light. The direction I am going with my tank is to get stuff growing on the rock, I really don’t care so much about the fish, and I want to move towards inverts than fish. I just put them in to have something to look at right now. <img src="graemlins//urrr.gif" border="0" alt="[urrr]" />

You need to decide what type of inverts you want to keep. Hard Corals, Soft Corals or both and buy the lighting accordingly.

i would keep both the bulbs the same, it will look nicer to you. imo i would go with a 50/50 bulb in each fixture. this would help provide growth and is enough light to see your fish. hth.
