I have a 55 gallon with 60 lbs of live sand and a penguin 350 filter and a bak pak skimmer with bio bale media in it and I have a volitan lion , porcupine puffer , harlequin tusk and snowflake eel . I bought a 150 and my idea was to buy 100 lbs of live sand and add the 60 lbs I have and fill tank with new water and use the 55 gallons of water from the 55 and then transfer fish and start my new wet dry filter any ideas I would appreciate it

Use some fresh saltwater to rinse the 60 lb of live sand - this will remove much of the silt and any sulfur compounds that formed at the bottom of the bed (these can be very toxic when released into the water). Will you be moving wet/dry filter material (bioballs, or whatever) into the new w/d? If you plan to use only new material you may have a problem with an ammonium spike, so I would keep the old bioballs (assuming that's what you have), rinse them gently in fresh salt water, and use them to charge the new w/d filter. Assuming that your 55 is healthy (although it is overcrowded), you should be able to follow your plan with no problems.

Sounds like you got a plan. Though, I would use old filter media from your old tank on your new tank while it goes through a mini-cycle.
If you believe in bottled potions, try out Seachem Stability to try to help keep things level... it wouldn't hurt.

Hi,
Welcome to the site!
Most of this is already covered, but here is my method....if the sand in the 55g is older then 8 months, it needs to be rinsed. If the sand hasn't been sitting in the tank under rocks for any real time, there isn't any toxins to concern yourself with.
If you rinse your sand...do NOT use freshwater, use the saltwater from the 55g and finish a second rinse with some new saltwater. That way you won't kill off the good bacteria built on it. There is extremely little good bacteria in the water, so putting all new saltwater in the new tank with the established rock and sand...as well as FOR NOW, use the HOB filter along with the new wet-dry, and use all of old media, don't change a thing in it. You should have enough good bacteria, and have no cycle at all. The extra water volume will be just fine. ONLY use your established rock FOR NOW, unless the new is fully cured. If needed, cure the new rock in a separate container, or the old 55g, and add it later.
Acclimate your fish to the new digs as if they just came from the store. Anytime you change a critter from one tank to another, it's a safety precaution, because SW critters just do not handle change easy, everything will be very stressed. Their entire world has changed.
I have done 3 upgrades, and quite a few moves over the years, and the only thing I ever lost was a cleaner shrimp, which was odd since the other cleaner shrimp, his buddy, was fine.
