charcoal???

I was wondering if it is harmful to salt water fish and corals if i use charcoal in my filter pad? I have a built in filter in the hood "eclips tank" I have been removing the charcoal and just using the pad when i buy new filters. Any comments??

Charcoal does not harm anything, its actually good to keep the water clear, but not necessary, if you have enough live rock, you really dont need any filtration, and pads you would have to clean them out weekly because they are nitrate traps, and you do not want that.
