I want to switch my Crushed Coral substrate out and replace it with Sand. I have a 55 gallon tank and have recently moved all of my fish over to my hospital tank to treat ick. This would be an great time to make the switch. My question is what is the least expensive way to buy the sand. The South Down is not available in South Florida, where I live. They have many other kinds though. Does anyone know of any other brands that my work from Home Depot or Lowes?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many reefers are also using the Quikcrete playsand available at Home Depot. It's not Southdown but they find it works just as well.

Yep, I used quickcrete playsand and it's working fine. I used it for the bottom 2 inches of my sand bed. Then I used argonite ( very fine like oolite) on top of that (2 inches) then I topped it off with live sand. The quickcrete I got at Lowes for 2.79 for a 50# bag. The argonite I got for 40.00 for 80 #'s and the live sand cost 40.00 for 40#'s. I have a 125 gallon tank so I used a total of 220 #'s of sand.
