cheapest stand for 72" long aquarium

Anybody out there know the best deal on aquarium stands? Is there a kit I can buy (I have no woodworking tools or skills.) It'll be in my dining room so it has to look decent. Want 72" long by 18" deep. (And why are these things so expensive?)

They're expensive because they're for a "hobby". I don't really know of any inexpensive stands because of that fact... I suggest you spend $70 on a circular saw, 2x4's, and screws and make one. If you're not that concerned with how it looks... you can make a REALLY inexpensive one!

low demand dictates a high selling price. Two 120 gallon stands and canopys that i'm currently building will cost no more than $175 when finished. I couldn't afford the 120 if i had to buy the stand.

you can go to home depot and have all your wood pre cut.
Then all you need tool wise is a drill to make it easier and a screw driver. Buy yourself some good screws and assemble. I bulit a 125 gallon stand with extra extra support for around a $100, that's with 2x4's for the frame and the entire cabinet covered in plywood for a shell for added support. I then stained it and added hinges for the doors. Just get a good idea of what you want and gigure the lumber you need make your list and go to the home depot!

I had HD cut down all of the plywood for me. Not one of the cuts that they made was straight. Luckily, I gave every dimension an extra 1/4" so I could cut all pieces exact. Tools are not good in the wrong hands....

My local HD as a saw the size of a wall and they lay the plywood in there and pull the saw down to cut and it was very smooth and straight. Like you said tools can be bad in the wrong hands. I had an older guy cutting and he was grumpy but good at what he had to do!

Thanks guys.
Maybe I'll have HD cut part of the project and see how they do. I can always go back for the rest.
