cheato Disintegrated

I have a new setup (From a 55 to a 75), I transferred all the rock and some sand. I have a 20 gallon fuge that has been doing well with just a regular lightbulb when I had my 55 gallon. After the initial setup my cheato disintegrated. So I bought some more and the same thing happened. In desperation to get my Nitrates and Phosphates down I went to the LFS and bought a clump if Grape Caleurpa to see if that would live.
Give me your CHeato growing tips please.

Wow, don't take this the wrong way, but chaeto is almost impossible to kill, was the new tank finished cycling or was the Ammonia still spiked?
I use a coralife 2x9w 6500k lamp over my fuge.

Didn't think there would be a big ammonia spike, the rocks were out of the water for less than an hour. I may have fried it because I was using one of those new 75w 5 year bulbs. I have switched to a 12w Coralife light and I'll see what happens

even though it was for less than an hour you could and would have die off. put i dont think it would be enough to cause a huge spike like that. and by adding wattage to it, def would not hurt it.
