I picked up a sea hare last week and it is a BEAST, he has his work cut out for him as my tank is a green hair algae nightmare right now but in his first week he has already taken down about 15% of the gha buffet. His name is Jabba.

That things is HUGE!!!
I do hope you have power heads covered. They aren't very smart and seem to have a death wish.

Wow. Nice. Keep adding tap water, shouldn't have a problem feeding him long term. Cover your powerheads!!!

good call, I will put a nylon over them, I do see him climbing a lot. He gets up to the top of the tank and then falls down. He always looks happy though, then again when I go to an all you can eat restaurant I probably have the same look. No worries Traveler, I know what you meant and I knew the score when I bought him. I will likely "rent" him and when my algae is gone trade him in at the lfs or message board. I can tell by his size and the irregularity of his availability that he has been traded before and this aint his first rodeo. Problem is my wife is becoming attached to the little guy and I am too kinda...he's pretty darn cute for a disgusting slug.

You could start a rotation...the next person with a HA problem could pay you for the seahare and shipping...When Jabba is done, then pass him on to the next. No he won't eat Cheato.

Just turn your powerheads off while hes in there, you do not want this guy dying in your tank. Shouldn't be long before you have a squeaky clean tank. I agree with the above comments, trying to feed him long term is a challenge. Locally here, they are viewed as a temporary inhabitant and passed along to the next problem.
GOOD LUCK

Update on Jabba the sea hare,
I post these pics because if I didn't you wouldn't truly understand the amazingness of this guy.
Before seahare

literally 12 days later

This big fella sleeps all day and eats all night. He tore every piece of green hair algae out of the tank and even though he is the size of a large chipmunk never disturbed a coral or rock. After eating all the algae we fell in love with the little guy who is so ugly he is actually pretty adorable. We now give him Nori sheets rubber banded to a rock that he happily scarfs up. The tang loves it too. We get these sheets in the Asian section of the grocery store, big pack is only 3 bucks. He has become my favorite critter in the tank and I highly recommend one.
