i happen to have four of these and thinking of using those for my new tank.

No not all the same, brass internals can leach copper into your system. Very bad
Also cheaper pumps heat the water, normally not enough to notice but when your in a circulating system then the heat builds.
Flotec is a good brand for home and Well use, but not for Marine Aquariums because of the internals.

In particular, the shaft seal has to be rated for exposure to seawater. They way they are lubricated and such requires special component use (ceramic instead of metal, etc).
Also consider efficiency. Good aquarium pumps cost what they cost because a great deal of time and effort has gone into making them efficient, given that they are run 24x7. Pumps that may be able to run that way but haven't been specifically designed for it often don't have a lot of priority on that design aspect. You may pay more to run them over their life than just buying the right pump would have cost.

I have four of those laying here and thought that i would save a little on my upcoming system because i don't have to buy and pumb. Oh yeah, how about the rating? Why is it so little?
