how do you check for these things? do you have to buy a special measuring tool? can anyone help me please. i've been doing this for 2yrs and never found out how to do this, guess there has never been a problem with my fish so i dont bother with it, but now i'd like to know where my tank stands. thanks

You can buy testing kits from any fish store... 2 highly recomended brands would be Aquarium pharmacueticals and if u want to be extremelly precise-Salifert.
